Our Work

Questions
Usually not, because most side and back windows are tempered glass, which breaks into small pieces with fairly dull edges and leaves no pane to fix. A chip in the windshield is a different story, and rock chip repair can often save that glass.
Whether insurance pays depends on your policy: glass broken by a break-in, vandalism, or hail generally falls under comprehensive coverage, while a window broken in a crash generally falls under collision. Comprehensive usually carries its own deductible, and some insurers offer glass coverage without a deductible. A door handle damaged in the same break-in is a job for door handle replacement.
The price depends on the piece of glass. A back window with a defroster or radio antenna built in is a different part from a plain pane. Some vehicles use laminated side glass, two sheets with a plastic layer between them, which is a different part too. So is side glass that is privacy-tinted or encapsulated, meaning framed in molded trim. A window that is whole but stuck is a different job, one for regulator repair.
Utah requires a front side window to let in at least 35% of light, with a 5% leeway on an officer's meter reading. Side windows behind the driver and the back window have no light minimum, as long as the vehicle has mirrors on both sides. A windshield must let in at least 70% of light, and a new RV windshield has to meet that rule too.
The Auto Glass Safety Council says a vehicle should stay parked after any auto glass installation until the adhesive is strong enough to hold the glass, a wait it calls the minimum drive-away time. That wait depends on the adhesive and the weather: one adhesive maker's products need about 30 minutes to 3 hours in mild weather, and longer in cold, dry air. The same wait applies to a semi truck windshield set in adhesive.
